Kerr: AID has picked up from where it left off in 2017

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr today released the following statement announcing that he has granted his first two Certificates of Authority of 2018 to a Mississippi-based title insurer and a Kansas-based accident and health insurer:

“I am proud to say that the Arkansas Insurance Department has picked up from where it left off 2017: welcoming new businesses to Arkansas.  As I begin my fourth year as Commissioner, our Department will continue aggressively seek out new companies to compete for Arkansas consumers by continuing to show that our state is open for business.”

Kerr granted authority to US National Title Insurance Company (USNT) of Flowood, Mississippi to offer title insurance products in Arkansas.  USNT specializes in providing title insurance on tax-adjudicated properties and on properties seized by local governments due to lien-related foreclosures or delinquent property taxes.  In December 2015, CivicSource Holdings, LLC purchased USNT and has common ownership with Archon Information Systems, Inc., which specializes in technology-driven systems for managing government sales of land-banked or tax-adjudicated property, including performing all due process requirements and hosting internet-based auctions of properties.  USNT has secured reinsurance thru Fidelis Underwriting, Ltd. which is rated “A-“ (Excellent) by A.M. Best.

Kerr also granted authority to Surency Life & Health Insurance Company of Wichita, Kansas to sell accident and health insurance products in Arkansas.  Surency was formed in 2008 as a stock life insurance subsidiary of Delta Dental of Kansas, Inc. (DDK).  Surency primarily writes vision coverage to DDK groups and partners with EyeMed Vision Care, LLC to utilize it’s eye-care provider network.  Surency is currently licensed in three states.  DDK was incorporated in 1972 as a non-profit dental service corporation and is the ultimate controlling entity of the group. 

In 2017, Kerr granted authority to 30 insurance companies.  Since becoming Commissioner in 2015, he has welcomed 67 new companies to Arkansas.
